RETROFIT - NEW ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS
New regulations requiring Ship Owners to install Ballast Water Treatment Systems and means to reduce Exhaust Gas Emission are fast approcaching. It is estimated that a number from 40,000 to 60,000 vessels must have a Ballast Water Treatment System installed by 2016. Exhaust Gas Emissions redcuction is already enforced in many areas of the world and requires the Ship Owner to utilize low sulphur fuel or install equipment allowing for Selective Catalytic Reduction or Exhaust Gas Scrubbing.
IMS is ready to assist the Ship Owner in the installation. Our approach is to carry out the majority of the works while the vessel is in service. We have as of July 2011 installed on-voyage Ballast Water Treatment and Exhaust Gas Scrubber systems. Our approach is to look at each project individually, thus finding the best solution maximizing cost savings without compromising safety and quality.
